The world in Black Desert is seamless without any loading screens. Each region of the world has its own climate and weather which affect available activities in the area. For instance, in a desert area the player can encounter sandstorms, while in water there is a chance of running into a hurricane.
 
   
There are two main nations in the world: The [[Calpheon Republic]] and the [[Valencia Kingdom]]. Each nation has its own view on how the discovery of the [[Black Stones]] in the [[Black Desert]] should be handled.

Ingame world map

The world map in Black Desert is a key tool for any traveler. Nodes are areas of important information and tools to use. You can display a Mini-Map in your HUD for a quick view of your surrounding area.

The most notable features of the map is houses that can be bought in many locations and workers who can work for you at activated nodes. Charting travel routes for quests, browsing the auction house and spending contribution to unlock more nodes are all integral to your success as an adventurer.

Balenos, Serendia, Calpheon, Mediah, Valencia, Kamasylvia and Drieghan[1] are the land regions, while Margoria is the main ocean. Port Ratt is the only accessible part of the faraway continent of Haso in the northwest part of the map.
